Start your countdown because the 2017 Ohio State Fair is only 12 days away! There’s so much to look forward to including rides, musicians, competitions, animals and more. This year, the Fair will be offering all of your classic Fair favorites – and more! Read on to learn about 12 new Fair additions to countdown to Ohio’s favorite summer tradition.

1. New Strolling Performers

Don’t be surprised if you see some celebrities walking around the Fair! Strolling entertainers are a Fair favorite. This year, there will be nine new entertainers making their way through the Fair, so look out for celebrity impersonators, cowboy comedians, jugglers and more.

2. New Musicians

If you like discovering new musical artists, the Fair is the place to be! Each year, the Fair brings new musicians to the Main Street Stage and the Gazebo Stage. Genres range from Motown to pop to country and more, so there will be tunes for all fairgoers.

3. Cereal & Milk Ice Cream

Looking for a cool, tasty treat at the concession stand? Head over to the Dairy Products Building, the Taste of Ohio Café or the Central Park Gazebo and try the official 2017 Fair ice cream, Cereal & Milk! This new flavor from Velvet Ice Cream has a sweet cereal & milk taste with a honey-graham cereal swirl. The delicacy connects itself to the dairy traditions at the Ohio State Fair.

4. iFlip Aerial Acrobatics

Get ready to flip out over these show-stopping acrobats! This new show will take place at the south end of the Mountain Dew Midway Sunday-Friday at 2 pm, 4:30 pm and 7:30 pm and Saturdays at 12:30 pm, 4:30 pm and 7:30 pm. These talented acrobats and stunt performers will put on an exciting show with unbelievable aerial feats with bungees, trampolines and more.


5.Wild About Monkeys

If you’re ready for some fun learning, head over to Meijer Kiddieland. We’re bringing Hollywood animal stars to the Ohio State Fair with the Wild About Monkeys Show, starring baboons who have appeared in films including “Evan Almighty” and “Rock of Ages.” The educational show gives fairgoers the opportunity to learn about these playful primates in a fun and entertaining setting. There will be shows every day at 1 pm, 3 pm and 7 pm.

6. Invention League/Invention Convention

If you consider yourself an inventor or entrepreneur, this new competition is for you! Make your way to Cardinal Hall A, July 30 from 5 to 6:30 pm to view creative entries from kindergarten through eighth grade students. Young inventors have the opportunity to be awarded with educational scholarships and prizes.

7. Ugly Cake Decorating Competition

There’s no shame for “crumby” cakes in this goofy cooking competition! This competition is back by popular demand in Cardinal Hall, Hall B. Unattractive style and lack of technique is a plus.

8. New Foods

Many people come to the Fair for all of the specialty foods! This year, new offerings include crepes, tatchoes, chocolate chip cookies, specialty tater tots and deep-fried tacos. Whatever you are craving, the Fair is bound to have it! Try something new at any of our 195 fabulous food vendors.

9. Tie-Dye T-Shirt Competition

If you like tie dye this competition is for you. Taking place in Cardinal Hall B, see how many different techniques there are to tie-dye shirts in this brand new competition.



10. Pogo Fred

Get ready for Pogo Fred, the world-record holding pogo stick jumper! The roving entertainer will be at the Ohio State Fair July 26-31. Be sure to check out his tricks as he jumps around the Fair on his 10-foot tall pogo stick.

11. Trevor and Lorena 

Ready for some magic and a laugh? Stop by the Gazebo Stage Aug. 1-6 to see this dynamic duo act of family-friendly comedy, magic, stunts, illusions and more. Trevor and Lorena Watters are an internationally awarded act, so you won’t want to miss this new addition to the Fair!

12. Michael Goudeau

This world-class comedy juggler typically performs in Las Vegas – and, in fact, is the most successful juggler in Las Vegas history! Another fun fact? He holds the Guinness World Record for “Most Bites in One Minute While Juggling an Apple.” See his antics daily at the Ohio State Fair’s Gazebo Stage.
