The All-Ohio State Fair Band and All-Ohio State Fair Youth Choir feature the talents of 400 high school instrumentalists and vocalists from more than 150 high schools in nearly all of Ohio’s 88 counties. Members are traditionally chosen through an application and recommendation process occurring between February 1 and March 31.

Each summer, members convene for rehearsals at the Ohio Expo Center & State Fair just days before the opening of the Fair and they go on to perform close to 90 concerts for several hundred thousand fairgoers. The ensembles’ distinguished and experienced staff is comprised of musicians and educators who strive to provide outstanding direction and supervision to each member. During their stay at the Ohio State Fair, members work with peers who share similar interests who develop friendships that last a lifetime. This experience is unique to Ohio as we are the only state fair in the country to present such an opportunity to our youth.

The Band and Choir were thrilled to keep the dream alive in 2020 by hosting a three-week online musical experience with rehearsals, recording and social events. Please take a moment to enjoy videos created during the “Virtually Amazing 2020” and prior years by visiting https://bit.ly/3b6iOZM.

This year, the Band and Choir will continue their traditions of musical excellence by welcoming new members, returning members and alumni from each organization to gather on July 31 for an Alumni Day rehearsal and concert. The event will be held at a yet-to-be-determined site in Central Ohio. Those interested in taking part must register online at www.aosfb.com or www.aosfyc.org by July 15. Up-to-date information will be provided there and on all of the organizations’ social media platforms.
