Baking temperature: 325 degrees
Baking time: 40 minutes
Yield: 8 servings
Ingredients
- 2 egg whites
- ¾ c sugar
- 1/8 t salt
- ½ t vanilla
- 1 ¼ t cinnamon
- 1/8 t allspice
- 4 c pecans (about 1 lb.)
- 1/3 c butter
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees
- Beat egg whites until soft peaks begin to form
- Add sugar, salt, vanilla and spices. Beat until glossy
- Fold nuts into egg white mixture and coat well
- Place butter in 9 x 13” pan and put in oven to melt butter
- Spread nuts evenly over melted butter
- Bake for 30 minutes, stirring and turning nuts every 65 minutes until no butter remains in pan. Nuts will be light brown, dry and crispy
- Allow to cool and store in an airtight container. Will keep for a couple of weeks, but they won’t last that long!
