Baking temperature: 375 degrees F
Baking time: 8-10 minutes
Yield: 2-3 dozen
Ingredients
- 1 c butter
- 2 c sugar
- 2 eggs
- ½ c condensed milk
- 1 t vanilla
- 4 ½ c flour
- 4 T baking powder
- 2 T salt
Frosting:
- 1/3 c butter
- 4 ½ c powdered sugar
- ½ c milk
- 1 ½ t vanilla
Instructions
- Cream together butter and sugar in bowl
- Stir in eggs, vanilla and condensed milk until creamy
- Mix flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl and add to creamy butter mixture
- Blend thoroughly
- Divide dough into three balls, wrap in wax paper, and chill for at least an hour
- Roll out dough on lightly floured surface about ½ inch thickness and cut out with favorite cookie cutter
- Bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes (bottoms will be slightly brown and top will spring back when lightly touched)
- Cool and frost (if desired)
- Store in an airtight container
Frosting:
- Blend butter and 1 c of the powdered sugar with a mixer
- Add in milk and vanilla
- Blend in remaining powdered sugar
- Mix on high speed until a creamy consistency is reached (more or less as desired)
- Add in coloring if desired
- Frost cookies
