Cut Out Frosted Cookies

Baking temperature: 375 degrees F
Baking time: 8-10 minutes
Yield: 2-3 dozen

Ingredients

  • 1 c butter
  • 2 c sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ c condensed milk
  • 1 t vanilla
  • 4 ½ c flour
  • 4 T baking powder
  • 2 T salt

Frosting:

  • 1/3 c butter
  • 4 ½ c powdered sugar
  • ½ c milk
  • 1 ½ t vanilla

Instructions

  • Cream together butter and sugar in bowl
  • Stir in eggs, vanilla and condensed milk until creamy
  • Mix flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl and add to creamy butter mixture
  • Blend thoroughly
  • Divide dough into three balls, wrap in wax paper, and chill for at least an hour
  • Roll out dough on lightly floured surface about ½ inch thickness and cut out with favorite cookie cutter
  • Bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes (bottoms will be slightly brown and top will spring back when lightly touched)
  • Cool and frost (if desired)
  • Store in an airtight container

Frosting:

  • Blend butter and 1 c of the powdered sugar with a mixer
  • Add in milk and vanilla
  • Blend in remaining powdered sugar
  • Mix on high speed until a creamy consistency is reached (more or less as desired)
  • Add in coloring if desired
  • Frost cookies
