First place, Quick Breads (Corn Bread), 2018
Baking temperature: 425º F
Baking time: 25 minutes
Yield: 1, 8" x 8" pan
Ingredients
- 1 cup sifted flour
- ¼ cup sugar
- 4 tsp. baking powder
- ¾ tsp. salt
- 1 cup yellow cornmeal
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- ¼ cup soft shortening
Instructions
- Sift the first 4 ingredients.
- Mix in cornmeal.
- Add eggs, milk and shortening, stir just until moist and smooth.
- Don’t over mix.
- Pour into buttered square 8” x 8” pan.
- Bake approximately 25 minutes.
