First place, Cookies & Pastries (Molasses Cookie), 2017
Baking temperature: 350 degrees
Baking time: 7-9 minutes
Yield: 48 cookies
Ingredients
- ¾ c butter, softened
- 1 c white sugar
- 1 egg
- ¼ c unsulfured molasses
- 2 ½ c all-purpose flour
- 1 t ground ginger
- 1 t ground cloves
- 1 ½ t baking soda
- Additional sugar for coating (can us regular sugar or colored sanding sugar)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- In mixing bowl, beat together butter and 1 c sugar until creamy
- Add egg and molasses; beat until combined
- Add remaining ingredients and mix until well combined
- Roll dough into 1-inch balls and roll in the extra reserved sugar
- Place on ungreased or parchment lined baking sheet, and bake for 7-9 minutes or until just barely turning brown
- Allow to cool for 5 minutes on sheet, then remove to wire racks to cool completely
