First place, Quick Breads (Scones), 2018
Baking temperature: 400º F
Baking time: 15 - 18 minutes
Yield: 8 scones
Ingredients
- 8 tbsp. salted butter
- 2 ¼ cups flour
- 1/3 cups sugar
- 1 baking powder
- ½ baking soda
- ½ cup sour cream
- 1/3 cup brewed coffee
- 1 egg
- 1 cup chocolate chips
Glaze:
- ¼ cup brewed coffee
- 1 ½ cups powdered sugar
- ½ cup melted chocolate
Instructions
- Set oven to 400 degrees.
- Place butter, flour, baking soda and powder, sour cream, coffee and egg into a food process and pulse until combined.
- Fold in chocolate chips.
- Take dough out of processor and put on floured surface and knead a few times, forming into a 8” circle cut into 8 triangles.
- Bakes for 15-18 minutes.
- After scones are baked and cooled, make glaze by mixing melted chocolate, sugar and coffee.
- Drizzle glaze.
