COLUMBUS – One of the most beloved and acclaimed bands in today’s bluegrass scene, The Grascals, will be performing for free at the 2014 Ohio State Fair on Wednesday, July 30 at 4:20 pm.

Formed in 2004 in Nashville, they have since won the Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music of America’s Bluegrass Band of the Year award in 2010, its Instrumental Group of the Year three years in a row (2011, 2012, 2013), the International Bluegrass Music Association’s Emerging Artist of the Year award in 2005 and its Entertainer of the Year honor in both 2006 and 2007.

In addition to these awards, they have also made appearances on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” “Fox & Friends,” “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson,” and CBS’ “The Talk,” along with more than 150 performances on the Grand Ole Opry. Their audiences have also included notable public figures, performing twice for President George W. Bush and at President Barack Obama’s inaugural ball at the Smithsonian.

The band includes Terry Eldredge and Jamie Johnson on guitar and vocals, Danny Roberts on the mandolin, Terry Smith on the upright bass and vocals, Kristin Scott Benson on the banjo and Adam Haynes on the fiddle.

While they usually perform at ticketed events, they are offering a free performance at the Ohio State Fair at the Natural Resources Park amphitheater on Wednesday, July 30 at 4:20 pm.
