COLUMBUS – On Thursday, July 24, Ohio State Fair visitors donated 19,015 pounds during Kroger Feeds Ohio Day to benefit the Mid-Ohio Foodbank. This is an increase of 3,853 pounds of food collected during the 2013 Kroger Feeds Ohio Day.

Thursday’s fairgoers who brought two canned food items to the admission gates received $3 admission before 4 pm. Kroger Feeds Ohio Day has grown rapidly since its inception in 2011 when 8,500 pounds of food was donated.

Mid-Ohio Foodbank provides food to hundreds of thousands of our hungry neighbors each year by partnering with more than 550 emergency feeding sites across central and eastern Ohio. Since 1980, the Foodbank has joined food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, senior centers, and after-school programs to make food accessible to those in our communities who are hungry. Over the past 12 months, the Foodbank has distributed 48 million pounds of food enabling its partner charities to provide more than 107,000 meals every day.
