Dr. Eric Cortez has been named Medical Director of the Ohio State Fair’s EMS/First Aid Program.
Dr. Eric Cortez joins a team of experienced medical personnel including nurse practitioners, paramedics and nurses, leading the Ohio State Fair’s EMS/First Aid Center as its new Medical Director. Dr. Cortez brings knowledge and talent while managing the EMS/First Aid Center starting with preparation for the 2018 Fair. In this role, Dr. Cortez will help to create an environment that provides a safe and healthy environment with certified and first-aid trained personnel to provide quick and effective first-aid, will oversee the purchase of medical supplies, ensure that the EMS/First Aid Center follows established policies and procedures, and will be on call for advice and input at the center, as needed.
Dr. Cortez, an emergency physician and EMS physician in Columbus, Ohio, graduated from the University of Toledo College of Medicine in 2010. He completed his emergency medicine residency and EMS fellowship training at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. Currently Dr. Cortez works in the emergency department at the Ohio Health Doctor’s Hospital where he serves as core faculty for the Emergency Medicine Residency Program, and Clinical Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine for Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine. In addition, Cortez serves as the Ohio Health System Assistant EMS Medical Director.
The Fair’s EMS/First Aid Center provides care to nearly 50 patients each day of the Fair, offering a safe and healthy environment with certified and trained personnel providing fairgoers with proficient medical attention.
