GOVERNOR STRICKLAND TO OPEN THE 2009 OHIO STATE FAIR
Gov. to open Fair
COLUMBUS, July 28, 2009
Gov. Ted Strickland will welcome fairgoers to the 156th Ohio State Fair during Opening Ceremony and participate in the annual media tour.
WHO: Gov. Ted Strickland, First Lady Frances Strickland, Ohio Expo Center & State Fair General Manager Virgil Strickler, Commissioners
WHAT: Opening Ceremony and Media Tour
WHEN: Opening Ceremony will take place at 9 a.m., immediately followed by the Media Tour at approximately 9:45 a.m.
WHERE: - Media check-in is available at the Media Center located on 11th Avenue.
- Opening Ceremony will take place at the Cardinal Gate.
- The Governor and Virgil Strickler will be available for media questions immediately following Opening Ceremony, prior to the start of the tour.
- The tour will begin at the Cardinal Gate, then travel to the Ohio Proud Farmer’s Market, the Nationwide Donahey Ag and Hort Building and the Natural Resources Park.
The Ohio Expo Center is proud to host the 156th Ohio State Fair. With a spectacular midway, big-name entertainment, hundreds of exhibits and one of the largest junior fair shows in the nation, the 2009 Ohio State Fair will run July 29 – August 9.

Note to editor: working members of the media are asked to enter the grounds through the Media Center located on 11th Avenue, just west of the OHIO Gate. Parking is available at the trailer, as are phones, a computer line, fax machine and refreshments. Please review the on-site guidelines and if your station / publication has not already done so, please send a list of all staff members who will be working the Fair to our Public Relations office.
