The Ohio State Fair offers scholarships to high school students and recent graduates in an effort to recognize their accomplishments as junior fair exhibitors. Applications for the 2013 scholarships are currently available online now.
High school juniors and seniors during the current (2012-2013) academic year, as well as recent high school graduates who are continuing their education at an accredited institution in an undergraduate course of study in any field, are eligible to apply on or before June 15, 2013.
Applicants will be judged on scholastic standing, citizenship and leadership, Ohio State Fair participation, county fair participation and financial need. Scholarships will be presented during the Sale of Champions at the Ohio State Fair held on Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013.
The Youth Reserve Program was established on Dec. 13, 1995, to reward junior youth exhibitors who participate in the Ohio State Fair. The Youth Reserve Program is funded by dollars received over a maximum cash award projection for each item sold at the Sale of Champions. In addition to funding scholarships, the Youth Reserve Program supports carcass contests, showmanship, skillathons and outstanding exhibitor projects. To date, the Youth Reserve Program has awarded approximately 28,000 youth exhibitors $2,211,925 since its inception. The scholarship program began in 1996.
