Anyone who knows a thing or two about the Ohio State Fair can tell you the mascot is Butters D. Cow. The beloved bovine has been a familiar face at the Ohio State Fair since his “birth” in 2002. In 2012, the mascot celebrated his 10th birthday with a big change – a new name! Since then, the former “Cowman” is now “Butters,” a name chosen by Facebook fans in an online contest.
The 2015 Fair will mark the cow’s 13th birthday and for many fairgoers, that means more than a decade of tradition and entertainment with the Fair’s mascot. Throughout the duration of the Fair, Butters can be seen walking around and interacting with fairgoers and taking pictures with as many fans as possible. He will be out and about on each of the 12 days of the Fair and can be seen in the daily parade along with the esteemed All-Ohio State Fair Band & Youth Choir, impressive performers and more.
