Brent McGrady of Delaware (Ohio) receives Best in Show award

The Ohio State Fair Homebrew Competition celebrated its 19th year by judging 505 beers, meads and ciders brewed across the state from Ohio homebrewers and any homebrewers from neighboring states who are active members of an Ohio homebrew club.

The many experienced and highly qualified judges evaluated each entry based upon five different criteria including aroma, appearance, flavor, mouthfeel and overall impression.

Brent McGrady of Delaware, Ohio, took home the Best of Show award with his Classic American Pilsner.

Medals were awarded to the top three finishers in each flight, with the fourth receiving a ribbon. Winners in 25 flights represent 20 Ohio counties including: Allen, Clermont, Crawford, Cuyahoga, Delaware, Franklin, Greene, Hamilton, Jefferson, Lake, Lorain, Mercer, Montgomery, Sandusky, Summit, Trumbull, Tuscarawas, Union, Wayne and Wyandot.
