Emily Hobson has been a Guest Information Services (GIS) representative at the Fair since 2008, working at the info booth near Brown Arena and 17th Avenue. Emily grew up in Marion County on a farm east of Prospect, and competed in county and state fairs with Montadale sheep through the 4-H program. After high school, she moved to Columbus and worked at the OSU College of Food, Agriculture and Environmental Sciences. While attending OSU, she spent her summers working in the sheep barn office during the Fair. She later became a 4-H advisor for 25 years and many of her advisees participated in county and state fair events with clothing, nutrition and miscellaneous projects. She spent two years as a judge for the Sheep Lead Classes at the Fair, two years as a judge of miscellaneous 4-H projects at the Fair and another two years judging 4-H clothing projects at the Clark County Fair. She participated in the Fair’s Children’s fashion shows by sewing garments for her three daughters for three years.
Emily continues to pursue her passion and hobby of sewing through her involvement with the Wesley Glen Guild, as well as serving as the current President of the OhioHealth and Riverside Methodist Hospital Sewing Guilds.
