COLUMBUS –Coming off the success of the record-breaking 2013 Ohio State Fair, officials are pleased to announce that the 161st Ohio State Fair continued the tradition of breaking attendance records. As the 2014 Fair came to a close, a new 12-day attendance record was set with an estimated 916,724 visitors entering the gates between July 23 and August 3. The 2014 State Fair turnout is an increase of nearly 1.5 percent over the previous record set in 2013 with 903,824 visitors.

“For many people, visiting the Ohio State Fair is an annual tradition,” said General Manager Virgil Strickler. “We’re thrilled that even more families came out to celebrate Ohio this summer, and we hope that they will come back to see us next year.”

Despite a few days with rain, Fair officials predict that this year’s mild weather, coupled with a roughly 5 percent increase in exhibitors from all of Ohio’s 88 counties, bolstered this year’s attendance.

“For me, having exhibitors from every corner of the state is a point of pride,” explained Strickler. “Whether they are participating in cooking projects or showing their livestock animals, these exhibitors help to showcase our great state.”
